What is Fear?
“Fear is the prison of the heart.”
Fear is a distortion of reality, which we use to limit our lives even if it exists only in our imagination. In this way, we create a false reality in our minds and let it become our true reality.
Where does it fear come from?
It is known we are born with two fears: fear of height and fear of noise. The rest of the fears can be considered abnormal because they come from a lack of confidence and a lot of limits imposed by the way of thinking. Moreover, think of fear as a weapon within you. The more you believe in fears and use them as an excuse for what you do not do, the more your life will be filled with hatred, anguish, and insecurity by that weapon.
We all suffer from fear and as we know, fear can be our greatest enemy if we accept it. We live with the fear of failure, the fear of not being loved, the fear of what others think, the fear of being “too small”, the fear of not being worthy, the fear of lack, fear of not having enough. It is a feeling that you will never be able to be who you really are and live the life we want.
Look at the kids, because they don’t know fear. They have neither life experience nor diplomas, but they do not know fear. How? They do what they feel and like to do and at the same time, they know they can do a lot of things. All it is the same until the adult tells him “you can’t do because you’re too young, you have to go to school, you have to grow up, you have to know what life is” – he educates the child in the idea of ”must”, for otherwise there will be imagined consequences and thus educates fear.
Why do we do it? We are educated in the same way and don’t know or are afraid to know another way to see everything around us. We are taught to have a lot of fears, not to believe in positivity, in kindness, in beauty, in what is good in the world. We are trapped living life through the others’ thoughts and when believing in what is bad, ugly, and negativity is what we create in our own reality.
In addition, fear has an inner voice that is very deep and convincing. As you focus on that voice, you become more and more convinced of it. It is the voice of the ego, which we have been taught to listen to, and is filled by what is given to us from the external reality we have been taught to see and hear it. For that voice of fear the power was created, the lies offered by politics and religion, propagated through the media, and fights/ wars for money and power.
From lack of confidence, fear can take different routes, but all go deep inside and you become a prisoner of your fears. In this way, you are afraid of following your soul’s desires.
You could imagine each fear as a stone, which is piled up throughout your life, and at one point the high wall is like a mountain, and its height is different for each of us. For some, it is higher, for others, smaller. You started adding fears in your childhood, when your parents were telling you: “you cannot do it yourself, you are not allowed to do it, it is a shame to do it and be careful what you do”, or you are punished, prosecuted. Growing up, your school, society, other people’s words and ideas, each added more stones to your fear mountain. Moreover, fear does not let you trust yourself, follow your dreams, act towards the beauty of your creation, as your life should be.
What is beyond Fear?
“On the other side of your fear mountain is the mountain of your self-esteem and self-love. The Fear Mountain is bigger and your self-esteem mountain is smaller, but when you start to face and accept fear, it is transformed into a new stone of self-esteem and self-love. The lower your fear mountain becomes, the higher your self-esteem mountain does.” (1)
Usually, you start by asking yourself what happened to you for there are so many fears in your life. How did you get so anxious, so full of frustration? How will you escape? Is there a way to do it?
Steve Jobs says, “you have the courage to follow your heart and intuition“. We all have a heart and intuition, but we were not taught to listen to and follow them. You are afraid for you have not been educated in that way, but you are a brave human being because you have learned to overcome your fear when you have learned to take the first steps and say the first word. When you allow beautiful emotions to expand, their freedom changes your interior and also the image of the world because you allow love to make room in your life. From the moment you realize how powerful you are without fear, they can no longer kneel you because you have the power to step over them.
You release the heart and the love you carry in it, from the prison of fear, because beyond fear you find the love you are born with, but it is hidden deep, deep inside, where you do not seek or think to seek: in YOUR Soul.
You don’t like to talk about these things because ego sees yourself as insufficiently worthy, good or capable compared to others, but when you start doing it, nothing can stop you because you slowly discover that fear is an illusion, and what you have and can share is the love of your soul.
You find that “Fear is the virtue of slaves, but love is the joy of the heart.” ~ Longfellow
“You can spend your life flying or talking about flying “. Thus you can choose: to live in fear or to free your heart and follow it.
