Navillera (TV Series Netflix 2021)/ Like a butterfly
The title originates from a word invented by a Korean poet who liked the sound of that word.
Navillera is the story of a retired postman who wants to dance ballet. As a child, he had wanted to take lessons. His father stopped him because of the lack of money and the idea that ballet is a “women’s” art form.
Shim Deok-Chul has just turned 70, and nothing much happens in his life now. One of his friends is explaining that “are relegated to either changing the diapers of our grandchildren or changing our own diapers.”
Another friend tells him about his regrets of not having realized his dreams of owning a boat and sailing the sea. His friend’s death and watching a young man practising ballet, make Deok remember his dream and inspire him to learn ballet before it is too late.
Deok is accepted as a student and he will be taught by Lee Chae-rok. In return, Deok must be Lee’s manager and help him to be more disciplined.
Deok and Lee start out on the wrong foot, because Chae-rok doesn’t believe a 70-year-old man can start dancing, and also has his own personal problems: his mom had passed away, and his dad is in prison. On the other side is Mr Shim’s wish to fulfil his unfulfilled dream and also his Alzheimer. However, a real friendship develops between the young mentor and the older student
Navillera is not just a ballet movie. It is about ups and downs, family and friendship, jobs and challenges, struggles and the comic of life.
‘Navillera’ motivate anyone of any age to follow his dreams, and not be afraid of the way people think about you.
We only live once. That’s why every moment counts for me.
