Tâmpa (Brașov)
Tâmpa is a mountain located in Brasov, surrounded almost entirely by the city. Made up mainly of limestone formations, it has a height of 960m (according to some sources 995m), almost 400m above the city.
Much of Tâmpa (150 ha) is established as a floristic, faunal and landscape nature reserve.
Throughout time, it has been talked about the existence of a lake, inside the mountain, and breaking up the mountain to make the tunnel would flood the city. However, specialists do not confirm the existence of this water eye.
Tâmpa can be reached by walking up one of the marked paths. Those not used to long hikes can take the cable car. While walking takes around 2 hours, using the cable car you are up in a few minutes. However, the view from the top of Tâmpa offers a stunning city panorama.
