Falcons Stone/ Piatra Șoimilor
The Piatra Şoimilor Nature Reserve is located near the town of Băile Tuşnad, on the right bank of the Olt River.
Although it covers only 1.5 hectares, it is home to a diverse range of wildlife.
Among the fauna found in this reserve are notable species like the great horned owl, the eagle owl, the nuthatch, the great spotted woodpecker, the wren, and the blue tit. Additionally, you can spot diurnal birds of prey such as the common buzzard, the peregrine falcon, the red kestrel, the goshawk, and occasionally, the lesser spotted eagle.

One of the most notable protected plants in the reserve is the Hawkweed species (Hieracium telekianum), a striking local endemic known for its vibrant yellow blooms.

From the Piatra Şoimilor, visitors can enjoy stunning views of the Olt River Gorge and the ruins of the Stanca Şoimilor fortress. It is said that falcons captured in this area were once sent as tribute to the Turks.
