Beyond the clouds…

We crave justice, yet we often fail to extend it to ourselves when we withhold our own truths, allowing our fears to dictate our actions. We seek respect from others, but we undermine our self-respect by not embracing our authenticity and failing to express our truths.

We ask others to seek or offer us forgiveness, yet we struggle to forgive ourselves for past mistakes and tend to grant forgiveness to others only conditionally.

While we dislike being lied to, we deceive ourselves by not voicing our opinions, making our own decisions, or taking responsibility for our actions; instead, we make excuses to justify lying to others.

We often find ourselves critical of those who don’t share our beliefs or follow our paths, yet we do not hold ourselves to the same standard, failing to act in accordance with our values.

We desire worth, but we run after celebrities, yearning for their fame and fortune or the illusion created by their acting on stage, forgetting they, too, are people deserving of privacy. We forget we are all born worthy…

We demand love from our partners measured by our own standards, overlooking that they may have different ways of expressing affection, just as we do.

We hunger for love from those around us, but tend to offer it only in limited portions or conditioned. As stated in “The Emerald Tablets,” “Your soul lives in slavery, shackled by fears that make you a slave.”

We fear loneliness and the peace that can bring; we are afraid that it might reveal our pains, so we prefer to run away in the crowd, where the noise distracts us, or we are offered the possibility of buying fake happiness…

We do so little for self-care, yet we still have so many high expectations from others.

We are “hungry” for justice, sincerity, truth, and respect, yet we only offer these to others in small measures. In our selfishness, we look outward, hoping our world will change so that we can change as well.

We forget to “drink” the light of our own souls, neglecting to examine our inner “backyard” and truly understand why our hearts feel so hungry when everything we need starts there.

“Do not chain your soul in the bondage of darkness; let it fly free to the stars.”

Emerald Tablets

Beyond the clouds, there is always light.
