Each of us desires a beautiful life filled with happiness, but where do we seek it?

Some people find happiness in material wealth, believing that having a lot of money, a large house, or expensive cars will lead to fulfilment. Others, however, feel unhappy if they lack a successful career, the home they desire, or the partner of their dreams.

In our pursuit of happiness, we often chase after wealth and accumulate possessions, building large houses even if we only need a simple space with a bed to sleep in and a table to eat at. For our children, we want them to have jobs that we often choose for them, believing it’s the pathway to their happiness.

We do everything we can to make those around us happy, but we do it through our own prism, our desires and dreams. We end up measuring our happiness by fulfilling our own dreams through others, because we don’t know, or don’t allow ourselves to be truly happy.

We condition our own happiness. Many people place their trust in others, particularly those in high social positions, yet few believe in themselves. If we struggle to believe in ourselves, how can we expect to believe in others? You help yourself to the cake served to us by others, but you do not touch yours because it does not look as good, even if you have not even tried to taste it…

We wish to change the world, but we often resist changing ourselves. For every hardship in our lives, we tend to seek blame outside of ourselves, failing to summon the courage to look inward and listen to our true selves. We expect others to do this for us.

Ultimately, the key that unlocks the gate to your heart is something only you can find. Each person holds their own key to their happiness. So, where should you look for this key? “Seek and discover the Key I have entrusted to you, and you will always be a Child of Light”, says the Emerald Tablets.

You will find this key “where man least looks or believes it to be found. No matter how many may instruct him to do so, for it is hidden within you; *the key to the worlds within you lies only within*.” (The Path to Self)
