Soul Bond

by Bianca Alina

My soul is trapped in a body
That no longer belongs to me.
My mind is just a land of broken memories.
It hurts to live between two worlds. Sometimes I feel like I’m my own worst nightmare.
I can’t do anything
Without help.
With any passing moment,
I lose more cherished memories.
I look at you, and I can’t recognize you.
I look at myself in the mirror,
And all I see is a stranger,
A sad old man with watery eyes. There’s only one thing I keep remembering:
A beautiful, green-eyed brunette
Walking down the aisle.
When our eyes meet,
Her soul lights up,
Merging in an embrace with mine.
Is that a real memory,
Or is it just a sweet, recurring dream?
I feel like this is the memory of you.
It has to be you because it’s always been you.
You’re the one who filled my heart with love.
The one who will never be ready to let me go.
