12 Years a Slave

This movie is based on a true story about Solomon Northup, a violinist from Saratoga, who was kidnapped in Washington and forced into slavery for 12 years, working on a plantation picking cotton. 

It is a great motivational movie, painting hope and perseverance when living an unfortunate situation, for Solomon never forgets who he was and still is in spite of all his suffering.
