Take the Lead
Take the Lead (2006), is the real story of a dance teacher who wants to help a group of students who are currently in detention. They live with ghetto problems like gangs, drugs, domestic violence. The system gave up on them, but their dance teacher did not.
Pierre Dulaine – the dance teacher believes that teaching those students dance will be enhancing their lives with respect for themselves and others.
He gives the students the tools to break the vicious circle they were living in. With hard work, they learn salsa, tango, meringue. In this way, they achieve something and gain a sense of self-respect, starting to change their lives for better.

Pierre has to fight with the ignorance of the students, parents and some teachers. Yet, he wins the battle when the students accept to compete in a ballroom dance contest.
It is a film that deals with poverty and disadvantage within the community that young people are growing up in. Made up from sincere scenes and comical moments, this true story offers lessons for those who wants to see and learn them. You can stand up for what you want and believe in, and overcome the obstacles.
To do something, anything, is hard. It’s much easier to blame your father, your mother, the environment, the government, the lack of money, but even if you find a place to assign the blame, it doesn’t make the problems go away.

Loving it. Blaming does not take the problem away. We have to work for it. Such a beautiful message.
