Suceava Fortress
Suceava Fortress is a medieval fortress located in Suceava County (in northeastern Romania). It was the main residence of the rulers of Moldavia for almost 200 years.
The Fortress was included in the List of historical monuments in Suceava County in 2015.
Built by Petru I Musat, the fortress was part of the fortification system built in Moldova at the end of the 14th century, at the time of the appearance of Ottoman danger. The system of medieval fortifications included fortified settlements for defence purposes, reinforced with stone walls, earth waves or deep ditches.
Since 2016, it has become a modern museum that illustrates themes of great interest to the public, but also the most comprehensive presentation of medieval weapons from Moldova, the coats of arms of Moldovan lords and boyars from the 14th – 17th centuries or the Medieval Treasury of Moldova.

The fortress includes several rooms distributed on 3 levels: the ground floor, the first floor (which offers a fantastic view of the entire Suceava valley) and the basement with an exit to the courtyard.
Equipped with the latest generation audio-video equipment and very well-structured educational content, the museum offers holographic projections and historical stories. The best received by the visiting public is the interactive book on the medieval history of Moldova and the video projection Chronicle of the Suceava Fortress, reconstructing a surprising and animated world, yet very real. Therefore, the visit is suitable for both children and adults.
Everything is very well set up, and the tickets offer access to the fortress, and also to the “BUCOVINA Village Museum”.

It is satisfying to read that the fortifications that keep the millennial history of humanity are preserved. It is the only way to know the past. A good article that also provides us with knowledge. The photos are great and give a special frame to your refaction. Htave a great week.

That’s the fortress in my city. It’s a breath of fresh air, especially since it’s been renovated. They hold medieval events there too.
Have you visited this place 🤔?
