I AM A WOMAN

INTRODUCTION

“The strength of a woman is not measured by the impact that all her hardships in life have had on her; but the strength of a woman is measured by the extent of her refusal to allow those hardships to dictate her and who she becomes.” -C. JoyBell C.

Who is a woman?
When I am quiet, millions of things are running through my mind.
When I stare at you, I am wondering why I love you so much in spite of being taken for granted.
When I say I will stand by you, I will stand by you. I will stand by you like a solid rock. Don’t hurt me or take me for granted.

I am asked if I am working.
My reply is, “Yes, I am a full time working house wife. I work 24/7.
I am a mother, a wife, a daughter and a daughter-in-law.
I am an alarm clock, a maid, a teacher, a waitress, a nanny, a cook, a security officer, a counselor and a nurse.
I don’t get holidays. I don’t get sick leave. I don’t get the day off. I work through day and night.
A woman has the most unique character like salt. Her presence is never remembered but her absence makes things tasteless.

She is a Mother. She teaches her children how to eat, walk, talk, run, read, write and excel in various tests of life. She helps her children to fight against failure and retry and succeed. She cares for her children till her last breath.
She is a sister. A sister you can always rely on. A sister that you can share your feelings, your secrets with, knowing that they would always remain hidden from others. A sister who is ready to fulfill your demands and spend her her last savings on you. A sister who would fight for you.

She is your friend in school or college. A friend who will do homework for you instead of completing her own homework and accept punishment in the class. She will keep you away from the girls who want to take undue advantage of you by being your friends.
She is your wife. She becomes your best friend, stands by you through thick and thin. When something goes wrong and you are feeling lost and afraid, she hugs you, caresses you, strokes your hair and tells you everything would be fine. She takes care of your family. And it is woman as your wife who brings the proud moment in your life when you become a father.

She teaches you in school and college as a teacher.
She is a colleague in your office who shares your good and bad moments equally. She is your advisor in office and offers free advice on official and family matters.
She is your neighbor who prepares breakfast for you and gives you packed lunch for office when your wife has gone to her parents’ house for a day or two.
She is your grandmother, your mother-in-law, your sister-in-law.

She is your doctor who cures your disease.
She may be your financial advisor who helps your money grow by giving you sound financial advise.
She may be a soldier who protects the borders of the country so that you can sleep peacefully in your home.

There are millions of women who are not known, or will never play a part among prominent female leaders. These women make a profound difference with our children, in education, in civil rights and much more. They understand the impact of one kind act or word will have to change a person’s life.

To all women unacknowledged for their generosity and work they do, thank you for making a difference. You are the one’s who are unafraid to say YES to help women grow. You are the one’s who weave the foundation that will stand the test of time.
I AM A WOMAN.
