Banffy Castle

Banffy Castle is situated in Bonțida village, in Cluj county, Transylvania. Its name comes from the family that built it, and its history goes back seven centuries, being attested at the beginning of the fourteenth century.

It is the largest castle in Transylvania. Even if it is only partially restored, due to its beauty, the castle was given the name of The Versailles of Transylvania.

The castle is the place where the famous electric music festival, The Electric Castle Festival takes place every summer since 2013.

Apart from the festival season, this place is very peaceful. For all that, it is considered one of Romania’s most haunted places. 🙂
