this is Rankin rocks.There are composed of very hard granite.Because they are so hard they do not erode as easily & so stick out.Harbour seals like to lazy around on them.No ground predators so they can relax.
Many thousands of migrating birds use it as a stopping point to gather strength for the continued migration as well.

& Sea Lions as well.I have some great shots of a large male Stellar sea lion perched up high on those rocks! I called him “Lippy” because he had a mouth injury.They can grow up to 1000Kg!
