Life isn’t just about balance. It’s about making all the pieces fit.
There are the border pieces which form the framework of the thing. Everyone will define them differently. For me — it’s my kids and grandchildren. Those are my corner/keystone pieces. They lock My Life into a secure place and make my world whole. Between them fall all the other humans I love. My friends, family, co-workers, and neighbors. People I have counted on over the years who have earned a place in the framework of My Life by being there time and time again.
In the middle, the picture of My Life takes shape. The yoga image, the motorcycle image, the meditation image, the live music/dancing image, the nurse image, the world traveler image, etc — all nestled around my cozy home base. All things I love and I have managed to fit into the framework which is My Life.
When you get to a certain age and with much practice at putting together your puzzle, you have a complete picture. You can look at it happily — with contentment and satisfaction for a Life well lived.
The tricky bit, of course, is Life doesn’t just stop at one moment in time. It keeps giving you good things/people/interests and you have to learn to expand your Life to include them. And yet, still maintain your framework.
Amazingly — it happens. The puzzle pieces shift around and make room for All. The. Things. which are meant to be there. It isn’t effortless every time. But you will know what is meant to stay and what is meant to go. And your puzzle — your Life is more beautiful for it.
