Eight below (2006)

Eight below (2006) is a heartwarming adventure, a movie inspired by a true story. A movie with no bad guys. 🙂 It takes place in Antarctica, and the real stars are the dogs.

The story is about a dog sledge trainer Jerry, who has to guide an expedition with Dr Davis McClaren. Due to a heavy snowstorm upcoming and some injuries, the scientists and crew members have to leave the polar base. They intend to come back and rescue the dogs but the weather does not permit it. The dogs are left alone…

From that moment, the movie has two storylines. One is about Jerry’s struggle to return and rescue the dogs. The other is about the dogs’ determination to survive. However, it is incredible to see how dogs care for each other, helping the one who had trouble and responding to the one who died. It is also incredible to see the human being’s attitude.

The survival story gives a wonderful lesson about what is truly valuable in life.

It is a touching movie about Antarctica exploration, working in the cold, and working with and loving dogs.

In my opinion, it is also a movie about faith and courage, compassion and dedication, loyalty and love.

You have to take chances for what you care about.
